While scrolling through my Facebook news feed, I came across a link from the Today show about people being addicted to their phones.
When I watched the clip from the show, I was surprised by the stat that one in 10 people check their phone first thing in the morning.
I thought the stat would be a lot higher. I know I check my phone first thing in the morning every single day. Whether it’s to shut off my alarm or check the time, I always check my phone before I get out of bed. And I check it countless times throughout the day.
Many of the anchors in the clip agreed that they check their phones many times a day. One of the Today show anchors mentioned that there is an app to see how many times you check your phone each day.
I searched the app store and found Checky, an app that counts the times you check your phone each day. I downloaded it to see how often I check mine. I thought it would count every time you click any button to see the time, but it only counts the times you actually open your phone. And you must keep the app running at all times with location services on for it to keep an accurate count.
I used the app for a week, and on average, I checked my phone 30 times a day.
