Make sure to drink eight glasses of water a day. We’ve all heard it before, but how many of us actually guzzle that much water in a day? Not many is my guess. I wondered what the benefits are of drinking that much water, so I decided to try it.
Being a person who normally drank a glass of water or less per day, this was going to be a challenge. My goal was to drink eight glasses of water a day for one week to see if I noticed a difference. It was rocky at first. I would start my day guzzling water while I got ready for work, and making many trips to the water cooler during the day, followed by many trips to the ladies’ room. The first couple of days it felt like a chore. After that, it started to feel normal.
Now for the best part, the benefits. I started noticing that when I drank water first thing in the morning, my nose and throat weren’t so dry. It felt like I could breathe much better than before (something I hadn’t even noticed was wrong). After a week, I also noticed that my skin wasn’t as dry. My face looked brighter, and I didn’t have dry patches anymore. Even my hair felt softer.
Needless to say, I’ve been bringing a water bottle to work every day and filling it up over and over. Who knew water could have such an impact?
