Design inspiration

As a designer, I like to get inspiration from many places. I’ll see advertisements on websites or on billboards and beautiful photos on blogs, and I’ll get inspired for my next design. When I can’t find inspiration naturally, I look for it online and through apps. Here are my favorites.

As a designer, I like to get inspiration from many places. I’ll see advertisements on websites or on billboards and beautiful photos on blogs, and I’ll get inspired for my next design. When I can’t find inspiration naturally, I look for it online and through apps. Here are my favorites.

On designspiration.net, there are all kinds of designs, logos, graphics and photos displayed in a clean grid. You can create an account to save your favorites to view later.

Thedesigninspiration.com is similar to designspiration.net. The view looks very similar, but the site is organized differently. Unlike the first site, thedesigninspiration.com categorizes its designs.

Another site I go to when designing is fontsquirrel.com. It offers many free fonts and is categorized so that you can find exactly the type of font you’re looking for.

An app I found recently that is great for inspiration is Fleck. It is very similar to Instagram, but it goes further. It’s a more curated experience. Instead of just seeing other people’s photos, it is described as “Daily, curated inspiration from a global community of artists, designers and makers.” You can share your original work and get inspired by others. It allows you to like and favorite other users photos and keeps those likes and favorites stored in your profile. It also is categorized so viewing is easy. And one of the best things? Selfies are not allowed.
