The Women’s Board of Aultman Hospital hosted its seventh annual fashion show, Angels on the Runway, Fashion for a Cause in November at the Cultural Center, led by co-chairs Judy Minton and Darlene Schuring. More than 280 guests were in attendance.
The Mercy Service League held its 2017 Harvest Ball in October at the Canton Memorial Civic Center. Mercy staff president, Ronald Crock, M.D., and Stark County sheriff, George Maier, served as honorary chairs, and Barbara Frustaci and Kathleen Prasnal served as Mercy Service League event co-chairs.
The 46th annual Christkindl Markt fundraiser that benefits the Canton Museum of Art added celebrity programs for the first time this year. In addition to the more than 100 artists exhibiting and selling their handcrafted artwork, complimentary programs by media celebrities Robin Swoboda and Andre Bernier were offered for guests.
In August, a sold-out crowd celebrated outside of the Cultural Center for the Arts with culturally inspired entertainment, delicious cuisine and creative décor at the gARTen Oasis: A Mirage in the Desert.
The CCDS Parents Association sponsored Night at the Races. This event captured all the suspense and close-up action that re-created the atmosphere of being at the racetrack. The event included a reverse raffle, dinner and drinks.
Coming Together Stark County held its 19th annual Awards Gala in October at La Pizzaria in Canton. Many local people and organizations were honored with awards. Coming Together Stark County is the only organization in Stark County with a purpose of promoting inclusion, diversity and dignity for all people.
In Jerry’s Footsteps, an employee foundation of TSG Resources, Inc., held its first reverse-raffle and fundraiser called Walking Together in September at Meyer’s Lake Ballroom. Guests included employees, vendors and community supporters.
Meals on Wheels of Stark & Wayne Counties hosted its first food fest fundraiser, “Put Hunger in Park!” The fundraiser was held in September at Hoover Park in North Canton. The agency exceeded its $70,000 fundraising goal and exceeded its public awareness goal with 1,500 to 2,000 people in attendance.
The First Tee of Canton hosted an open house in August to celebrate 15 years as a youth development nonprofit program in Stark County. This year, the Deuble Learning Center was updated, and a maintenance facility was built.
Bender’s Tavern hosted a wine-tasting event featuring Keplinger Wines, a rising star in the wine world. Helen Keplinger, a native of Canton, grew up in a family that centered most everything around food, wine, the arts, nature and travel.
