Canton Fine Arts Associates sponsored its February luncheon with the program “Glitz and Glitter: Jewelry from the Ohio Presidents’ Wives.” Presented by Mari Halkovich, a vintage jewelry expert, the program featured a history of the jewelry worn by the first ladies from Ohio and was held at the Canton Museum of Art.

The resale clothing boutique, open one year in July, sells pieces found at estate sales and thrift stores such as Goodwill and Salvation Army. The owners, Magan McLaughlin and Jennifer Reed, also love when people bring stuff in.
Birchwood and Pine, one of the latest boutiques to add some boho flavor to the downtown Canton cityscape, almost didn’t happen here. Before the Pro Football Hall of Fame Festival Grand Parade in 2007, these high-wheel bicycles were leaning against an apartment building on Cleveland Avenue SW. The building and the bicycles appear to share the same vintage, and the window moldings, the same graceful curves of the big wheels.
