April 25, 2020 Canton Film Fest: Cantonfilm.com, in association with the Canton Palace Theatre, will host the 2020 Canton Film Festival at the Canton Palace Theatre at 5 p.m. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. The documentary screening of “Like Harvey Like Son” will start at 5 p.m. The Q&A with Harvey Lewis will start at 6:40 p.m. The Cleveland International Film Festival (CIFF) winning short films will start at 7:15 p.m. There will be a CIFF Q&A at 8:45 p.m., and the event will end at 9:15 p.m. Tickets are $15 for a day pass, $10 for “Like Harvey Like Son” only and $5 for the CIFF films only. cantonpalacetheatre.org

March 12, 24th annual JRC Women in History Luncheon: Celebrate women in history at the 24th annual JRC Women in History Luncheon. The theme this year is “A Mad Hatter Tea Party—Where Imagination Meets Inspiration, Anything is Possible.” It will be at the Canton Cultural Center for the Arts. Doors open at 10:30 a.m. for a silent auction, 50/50 and grand raffles. The program will begin at noon. Sara Shookman of WKYC will be the guest speaker. Jan. 25, An Evening of Organ and Orchestra: Organ and Orchestra? Yes please! Enjoy a new viewpoint of some older works with two pieces on the program reworked by the Canton Symphony Orchestra’s Maestro himself. The Canton Symphony Orchestra’s organ soloist is Heather Cooper, who is also a local elementary school music teacher and 2018 Music Teacher of the Year finalist. The concert prelude with Assistant Conductor Matthew Jenkins Jaroszewicz starts at 6:30 p.m. The performance starts at 7:30 p.m. at Umstattd Performing Arts Hall. Tickets range from $28 to $48. Dec. 7: Downtown Wonderland Christmas Celebration, Minerva’s Downtown Wonderland Christmas Celebration will kick off with the Christmas parade at 3 p.m. The parade begins at Minerva Elementary School. Following the parade, Treat Trees, sponsored by area businesses and organizations, will line the sidewalks, covered with treats for kids to take. Santa and Mrs. Claus will be in the Roxy Theatre, hearing wishes and posing for free photos.

Nov. 7, Stark County Artists Exhibition Opening and Awards: The Stark County Artists exhibition opening reception will be from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the Massillon Museum. This is an annual juried exhibition for present and former Stark County residents and those working in Stark County. Through Oct. 31, Nickajack Farms Fall Festival & Pumpkin Patch: Enjoy all kinds of fall fun for the whole family at Nickajack Farms Fall Festival & Pumpkin Patch. The festival runs from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. September 14 through October 27 and then from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily through October 31. June 15, 22, 29-September 28—Canton Farmers’ Market: Join everyone at the Nadine Mcllwain Administrative Building parking lot at the corner of Fourth Street and McKinley Avenue NW in Canton. The market runs every Saturday morning from 8 to 11:30 a.m. through September 28. The site is perfectly suited with grass, trees and plenty of free parking.
