Mark J. Samolczyk knew it was time he and his family returned to the United States and Stark County when his two daughters–Grace, then 7, and Kate, then 5–thought “O Canada” was their native national anthem.
Over the years, this region, like many, has had its economic struggles. Certainly, Stark County’s median income lags behind its sister cities in Ohio, for any number of reasons.
One hears plenty about the lively restaurant scene in downtown Canton, but the busiest dining room downtown is a different kind of operation. The meal ministry at nonprofit organization Refuge of Hope serves hot meals seven times a week to the community, free of charge.
