Toads are like final snooze button on spring’s alarm clock. First call is from the daffodils but they will get covered by snow. The crabapple and pear trees quietly bloom and a chair or two are put out.
Build it and they will come. I’m still amazed at how wildlife can find a 20-foot pond in the middle of an allotment. Less than 24 hours after stocking this pond, the sushi bar was opened by a heron, an unwelcome frequent diner.
