When The Nighlight Cinema in downtown Akron closed March 15, the organization had to figure out what to do next. Operating an intimate 46-seat movie theater wasn’t safe during the coronavirus pandemic. And The Nighlight always has operated as not just a place to screen independent films, but a place to bring people together.
Make movie night a little more exciting this summer. Try screening your flick of choice on the side of your house or garage door.
The line usually started to form around sunset. Motorists cruised their way into the lot in orderly fashion, the sound of crunching gravel announcing their arrival.
If you haven’t seen “McFarland, USA” yet, I suggest you pick up a copy now. On a whim, I picked it up from the library without even knowing what it was about. I was pleasantly surprised to find it was about cross country.
