One hundred years of Massillon Woman’s Club history will be on display at the Massillon Museum this month. The exhibit “A Century of Sisterhood: A History of Massillon Woman’s Club” will open May 17 in the Fred F. Silk Community Room Gallery and run through June 23. The collection is expected to include between 40 and 50 pieces, mostly photographs.
Few ballets invoke the feelings of the holidays as does “The Nutcracker.” The Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky ballet, a fairy tale story about an enchanted Christmas Eve when toys come to life, is a staple of the season.
The Massillon Woman’s Club sponsored its annual spring Daffodil Luncheon at the historic Five Oaks Mansion in April. The Daffodil Luncheon also included a style show with fashions by Vita Boutique, door prizes, a 50/50 drawing, a raffle and a delectable lunch. All proceeds benefit the restoration and preservation of Five Oaks Mansion.

The club’s Daffodil Luncheon, chaired by Carole Moock, was held in the mansion’s main parlors and featured a spring style show by Chico’s of Belden Village, a door prize raffle, live music by Steve Dallas and festive yellow floral decor.

Volunteers transform three levels of The Massillon Woman’s Club into a Christmas wonderland each year. Named Five Oaks, the home was built from 1892 to 1894 for Mr. and Mrs. J.Walter McClymonds for $200,000 and is now on the National Register for Historic Homes.
