Autumn offers a pleasing contradiction. The dying leaves of the season provide such lively color. Stands of trees of Stark County are canvases for strong reds, vivid yellows, bold browns and breathtaking oranges—all on a unifying background of fading green.
There comes a time every summer when there’s a slight chill in the air, and it makes me excited for fall. When the sun starts setting noticeably earlier and the temps get cooler overnight, I start looking ahead to cozy evenings.
Every fall, usually in October, I head to a cabin in Hocking Hills for a weekend with my girl gang. The annual cabin trip started about a year after we graduated from Ohio University. And we’ve kept the tradition going over the last seven years through job relocations, marriages and growing families.
Trick or treat etiquette has gone the way of the dodo, the Pinto and (Han) Solo. Fellow parents, it’s up to us to stop the madness. As a public service, feel free to share this with parents all over the world.
