Getting dinner on my family’s table each night is no easy feat. Like most moms, I want to make one dinner that is quick, healthy — and will satisfy everyone at the table. It always sounds so easy. Unfortunately, the reality is much different.
The joke in the office is that we knew we made it with About magazine when we were at an event and we overheard someone who just had their picture taken whisper excitedly to a friend, “I hope my picture gets in About magazine!”
You know what they say about paybacks. I think this issue of About was mine to my husband, Scott. Scott recently had a tonsillectomy, a relatively simple surgery with a tough recovery for adults. He was on an all-liquid diet for 10 days and it was several weeks before he was eating (almost) normally again. During this same time, I was working on this issue of About — our food issue.
I’m convinced the editors of Forbes magazine have never read About magazine. It’s simply not possible that this area could be named “Most miserable” by that magazine if its editors had taken note of all of the great local people and places featured in About over the last two years.
