A panoramic painting of African wildlife is coming to Canton. “African Menagerie—The Inquisition” will run April 26 through July 15 at the Canton Museum of Art. The touring exhibit created by American artist Brian Jarvi is considered art with a mission, because it is intended to draw attention to wildlife extinction.
The 46th annual Christkindl Markt fundraiser that benefits the Canton Museum of Art added celebrity programs for the first time this year. In addition to the more than 100 artists exhibiting and selling their handcrafted artwork, complimentary programs by media celebrities Robin Swoboda and Andre Bernier were offered for guests.
In August, a sold-out crowd celebrated outside of the Cultural Center for the Arts with culturally inspired entertainment, delicious cuisine and creative décor at the gARTen Oasis: A Mirage in the Desert.
A unique program titled “FA Uncorked” was held at the Canton Museum of Art and sparked the creative spirit in all participants. Sponsored by Canton Fine Arts Associates, “FA Uncorked” was conducted by Erica Emerson, education manager of the Canton Museum of Art. Emerson led guests with step-by-step instructions in the creation of their paintings. Wine, snacks and all painting supplies were included.
The gARTen of eARThly Delights, Canton Museum of Art’s premier fundraiser presented by the Canton HeART Guild, exceeded all expectations. A sold-out crowd celebrated on the rooftop of the Cultural Center with mesmerizing entertainment and decor inspired by the famous Hieronymus Bosch painting, The Garden of Earthly Delights.
The holidays are upon us, and that means family get-togethers, parties, shopping and of course, gifting. I always feel weird answering the age-old question, “What do you want for Christmas?” When I was a kid, I would create multiple lists so that I wouldn’t get two of the same gift. Smart thinking!
Canton Fine Arts Associates sponsored its February luncheon with the program “Glitz and Glitter: Jewelry from the Ohio Presidents’ Wives.” Presented by Mari Halkovich, a vintage jewelry expert, the program featured a history of the jewelry worn by the first ladies from Ohio and was held at the Canton Museum of Art.
The Canton Museum of Art’s major fundraiser, In the gARTen of Good & Evil, was held in August. It was a tremendous success—sold-out—thanks to event co-chairmen Lindsay Zimmerman and Maranda Saling and the new Canton HeART Guild.
