Putting together a monthly publication has its ups and downs. I won’t lie; it is a lot of fun. But it’s also a lot of work. Who comes up with the feature ideas? Where do we get our inspiration? Where do we go from there? How do we stay relevant?
I’ve gotten to eat and cook a lot of delicious food in my three years as an About contributor, but my most memorable assignment had nothing to do with eating. It was taking an aerial yoga class at Barre Fly in Jackson Township.
When About magazine started back in 2008, it was an exciting new frontier for the editorial staff. My predecessor took the reins and created a wonderful publication that I am lucky enough to continue to produce each month.
We celebrated our sixth anniversary and our recent relaunch at the Pavilion at Gervasi Vineyard in June. The party featured hors d’oeuvres, drinks, dessert and music by Yankee Bravo. About 150 guests had a fun evening celebrating six years of About. Executive manager Jess Bennett explained how proud she is of the team and spoke of the recent changes and what’s in store for the future of About.
