Tricia Dever | In My Own Words

I have been an event planner in the Canton area for about 12 years, owning my own wedding and event planning business, Always Eventful Inc., for almost 10 years now. I love details, and events are all about details — linens, lighting, sound, food, beverages, timing, flow and much more.

Why do you do what you do?

I have been an event planner in the Canton area for about 12 years, owning my own wedding and event planning business, Always Eventful Inc., for almost 10 years now. I love details, and events are all about details — linens, lighting, sound, food, beverages, timing, flow and much more. After months (and sometimes years) of planning an event, it is wonderful to watch the details come together on the day of the event. I love watching a bride peek into her ballroom for the first time and gasp in delight! I love having a bride, a groom and their families truly enjoy their special day because they know they do not have to worry about the details — I have those handled. I’m honored to be entrusted with the planning and execution of such important events in my clients’ lives.

What’s on your mind?

Presently, I am organizing more than 200 of my friends (and friends of friends) in a Thanksgiving project in which we will provide 100 homemade Thanksgiving feasts to Stark County families in need. It is the sixth year of my little project and each year it has grown. It is amazing to see a grass-roots effort take hold. One of the main goals of the project is to give our children a real-life experience with giving back. At our assembly party, the children in attendance do all of the work and assist in the deliveries. It is a huge undertaking — from recruiting volunteer families, to organizing deliveries — but for me, when I sit down at my own Thanksgiving table with my husband and my two little girls, my heart bursts with pride that more than 100 families in Stark County will be eating the same meal as my family. I am so proud of the giving nature of my circle of friends and the dozens of new friends that I have made through this project!

What’s on your bucket list?

There are so many things that I hope and pray to be able to accomplish during my lifetime. I will share one that deals with my past, one for my present and one for my future.

Past: I would like to write a book about something near and dear to my heart, my journey to building a family — a road through infertility, childbirth and adoption.

Present: I would like to successfully complete a triathlon, as I continue to pursue a journey to health.

Future: I hope to take my two little girls backpacking through Europe after they graduate from college.
