Todd Pugh | In My Own Words

I do what I do because I love the opportunity to be outside, transform properties, get to know our clients, and most importantly, work with the Enviroscapes team. There is nothing more satisfying than seeing young men and women take on huge responsibilities and succeed.

WHY DO YOU DO WHAT YOU DO?

My father worked for Fresh Mark/Sugardale for 46 years and my mother was a schoolteacher at Louisville Schools. Although they both worked away I feel blessed to have the opportunity to grow up on a 40-acre hobby farm with my two brothers and sister. My grandpa and grandma Kiko also had a dairy farm that was 2 miles down the road. Both my parents and grandparents were hard workers and instilled that same work ethic and family values they were raised with in me from an early age.

Although as a kid I did not always find working until dark all that exciting, today I realize it is the foundation that has guided me through life. I started cutting grass for a neighbor down the road at age 14 as a way to generate some spending money. That single lawn that I received $5 per week to cut has since transformed into a business that employs more than 175 people, has five locations and has won multiple national and state awards.

I do what I do because I love the opportunity to be outside, transform properties, get to know our clients, and most importantly, work with the Enviroscapes team. There is nothing more satisfying than seeing young men and women take on huge responsibilities and succeed. It gives them that feeling of satisfaction that then leads to confidence that then leads to their next challenge.

The success of Enviroscapes is our team, and what a fun job to be the leader of the team. Stark County is an awesome business community that is full of great entrepreneurs and innovators that enjoy sharing their successes and want to see other local business succeed. It is like living in a real world classroom every day. I love it and take pride in being a part of this community.

WHAT IS ON YOUR BUCKET LIST?

I have a wonderful wife and three great kids. I want to make sure when the kids leave the house they are prepared to be contributors to society and have the initiative to go out and make a difference. I want to continually become a better husband and partner for my wife. She has sacrificed a lot during the past 16 years as we built the business. My wife has been so supportive and understanding.

We would like to have a large cattle ranch out west some day. One of our family hobbies is raising and showing cattle, and Anna and I both love the western United States. I am not sure what it will look like, maybe a camp of youth or program but I do have a passion to help kids. I have always believed if you have confidence in yourself then you are not afraid to fail and if you are not afraid to fail you can accomplish great things.

WHAT IS ON YOUR MIND?

My mind is always turning. I am always challenging myself and thinking of ways to make Enviroscapes better. I think about how to be a better dad and husband. The family unit in this country is being depleted and that is not good. I am a partner in a business that develops labor saving and innovative equipment for the landscape industry, so I am always thinking about what the next “iPad” of the landscape industry is so we can build it. I don’t want to look back some day and say I wish I certain things.
