Keeping it Regal | Spring Formal Style Profile

It’s no wonder Kara Abbott looks so regal on a night out—she honed her formal spirit during a stint of 10-plus years on the Pro Football Hall of Fame Enshrinement Festival Queen Pageant Committee, with two years as chairman. But her royal reign began back in 1995, when she took home the coveted crown herself.

This two-tone gown from Cache mixes two of Abbott’s favorite looks—bling and black.

But her royal reign began back in 1995, when she took home the coveted crown herself.

Most days are now spent at home in the castle, chasing after her boys, Bryce, 13; Blake, 11; and Brock, 6; and her youngest, daughter Brynn, 2-1/2.

“My whole life has become about taking my boys to sports. And somehow, my days seem to be gone from there!”

She spends time volunteering at St. Mary’s in Massillon, which the kids attend. And she choreographs bridal shows for Shannon English Marketing.

Whether running around with the kids, out on the town with husband Steve, or spending time at Pilates or spin classes, there are two trends that Abbott can’t live without: animal print and bling (and lots of it).

“I know it might seem obnoxious to most, but I love bling, especially with black. And I love the dark, rich neutrals of animal print.”

This won’t be her only formal photo opp of the year.

She’ll once again be strutting the runway at this summer’s Enshrinement Festival Fashion Show Luncheon (Aug. 1).
