During their relationship, they have done so much together and seen so many places. From freezing cold motorcycle trips to Gettysburg to relaxing beach vacations in the Caribbean. In October, they made a trip to a favorite weekend destination for them, Hocking Hills. The proposal took place in one of the caves. It was absolutely perfect! After the proposal, they were greeted with cheers and clapping from down below.
After being engaged for three months and hearing the question “When are you two going to get married?” almost daily from friends and family, Scott and Laura took a good look at their options. Laura wanted small and simple, but with Scott’s guest list continually growing, she knew small was going to be tricky.
A quick conversation in passing turned into planning a surprise wedding in only three days. They decided to host a “New Year’s Engagement Dinner” at Bender’s Tavern in Canton. However, their guests were in for a big surprise!
January 3 arrived, and they were all set. To make it seem like an engagement party, Laura started off the evening in a simple black cocktail dress. After about a half hour, she sneaked upstairs to change into her wedding dress. Scott introduced Judge Lee Sinclair as the master of ceremonies for the event. Sinclair said a few words and then commented about how after being a judge for so long he was used to people standing for him. However, that day he asked that “we stand for the bride.”
You could hear the excitement and shock of their guests, who were truly surprised by the wedding. It truly was the perfect day for the two of them.
