Mwedding_jugglealinda Nelson and Ian Giebeler met by chance through a friend one night in September 2008. Ian had been looking for an apartment and asked his friend Kevin if he had a vacancy at his house. Kevin checked and discovered that his tenant, Michelle, had already found a new roommate, so the house was full. A few months later, Ian and Kevin went out for a drink. They ran into Malinda there — and Kevin introduced Ian to her. It just so happened that Malinda was the new tenant that took the last spot at Kevin’s house.

“Little did I know the girl that had stolen my room would soon steal my heart,” Ian said. Ian said he knew Malinda was the one for him the first time he went to her house and he saw her vast collection of video games — and discovered she knew how to juggle. They bought a house together in August 2010. A year to the date later, Ian proposed over dinner at their home. The couple were married on July 20, at New Franklin’s Tudor House, with a reception following at Guy’s Party Center in Akron. Kevin, the friend that introduced them, was the best man at the wedding and Michelle (Kevin’s tenant who asked Malinda to move in) was the Matron of Honor. The theme of the day was video games — a tough thing to incorporate into an elegant wedding, but the couple wanted their personalities to be incorporated into their special day. “All my wife’s energy went into dreaming, planning and creating our perfect wedding — and it ended up being just that,” Ian said. The couple resides in Jackson Township.
