It was a summer day (July 3, 2004, to be exact), when Darcy’s best friend convinced her to go to a party with her at Elvis’ parents’ house. Elvis took Darcy on a four-wheeler ride around his parents’ property. The two started talking, and he asked for her number — and even gave her a kiss goodbye that night. They spent the rest of the summer together, but soon their relationship turned into a long-distance one. Darcy moved back to college and Elvis left for Army training and then to a deployment in Iraq. When Elvis returned home from Iraq in December 2005, they were thrilled to be able to spend time together again. But after graduating from college in 2007, Darcy moved to New Jersey to attend an accelerated nursing program there.

Once Darcy graduated from nursing school in 2009, she moved home to Canton, and finally the couple had a chance to have a relationship that wasn’t long-distance. In March 2011, Elvis surprised Darcy with a trip to Kalahari Resort. While Darcy was getting ready for dinner, she asked Elvis to help her put on her bracelets. That’s when he got down on one knee and proposed!

After 7 years of dating, they were finally engaged! They were married on May 19, 2012, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, with a reception following at Brookside Farms in Nimishillen Township.

The couple included 24 of their closest family members and friends in their wedding party, and guests traveled from all over the United States and Canada to celebrate with them. Darcy works as a registered nurse on a pediatric hematology, oncology and bone marrow transplant unit at the Cleveland Clinic. She will attend Malone University this fall to pursue a master’s in nursing degree. Elvis owns and operates Goodfella’s Landscape and Lawn Care, a full-service landscape and lawn care company in Canton.
