Rise and Shine Award | Samantha’s Downtown | Feast Awards 2014

Feel like a hearty, fresh omelet? Head to Samantha’s “Downtown” Restaurant and order the California.

Winner: California omelet at Samantha’s ‘Downtown’ Restaurant

Honorable mention: Wild Maine blueberry pancakes from Cracker Barrel Old Country Store

The best part of waking up? Breakfast.

feast_rise_and_shine_awardThere is nothing worse than getting up, excited to go out to breakfast, only to get served a weakling portion of eggs and canned sides.

Feel like a hearty, fresh omelet? Head to Samantha’s “Downtown” Restaurant and order the California.

It’s made with three eggs, a healthy portion of grilled turkey, bacon, tomatoes, avocado and pepperjack cheese, and served with crispy, well-seasoned home fries. The plate is rather intimidating, with all the ingredients seeping out of the light, fluffy eggs on a melty cheese slide.

At $7.99, it’s a hard-to-beat value, especially since it’s easily enough to make it the next day’s breakfast as well.

Trying to keep that New Year’s resolution? Try the White Omelet, with four egg whites, green peppers, tomatoes, mushrooms, onions and toast, also $7.99.

Slept in this morning? Not to worry—Samantha’s serves breakfast until it closes at 2 p.m.
