“Soul Food Ain’t Fast Food” is the slogan for Ed’s Smokehouse in Canton, where slow cooking is everything. A good way to sample the goods is a three-rib dinner ($12), which comes with two sides and a corn muffin. The sides seen here are collard greens and mac and cheese. Others include yams, green beans, potato salad and coleslaw. Asked which menu items are most popular, Liz Hampton, who runs the place with her brother Ed, said with a laugh, “The biggest seller is everything! Wings, ribs, fish, pork chops. We have chitlins on Friday. Our No. 1 dessert is banana split pie.”
