Where can you find a Hammerhead, an Americano, or a Macchiato along with a comfy couch, freshly made goodies and WiFi? Look no further than your friendly neighborhood coffeehouse.
Each one seems to have a different personality — and its own line-up of specialties and unique atmospheres. From chains to independent shops, coffeehouses are where we get our caffeine fixes, our sweets, our daily comfort and our social time.
We have some great ones here in Stark County, many of which we’ve highlighted. By the way, a Hammerhead, also known as a “Shot in the Dark,” is a shot of espresso in a coffee cup that is then filled with drip coffee, an Americano is espresso coffee plus hot water and a Macchiato is an espresso with a dash of milk or cream.

ARABICA COFFEE HOUSE
4339 Dressler Rd.NW, Jackson Township
Known for its popular Buckeye Mocha. Served hot or cold, it has real peanut butter in it. Arabica is also known for their muffins, pastries, sandwiches and soups. Open mic night is every Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.
506 S. Main St., North Canton
Have a grilled panini with your gelato in this authentic Italian coffeehouse that features unique coffees and espressos.
4230 Belden Village Mall, Jackson Township
Located in the mall, it’s a convenient stop while shopping. Besides the classic coffees and hot chocolate, favorites include Turtle Mocha, chai tea latte and fruit drinks such as the acai smoothie.
215 Market Ave. N, Canton
Owner Cathy Wyatt says her customers come in for coffee and leave as friends. Current favorites are Toasted Scotchie and Pumpkin Spice coffees.
121 Lincoln Way E, Massillon
Located inside the Massillon Museum, the shop offers culture with your cup of joe. It features wireless Internet with its baked goods, coffees, teas, and snowball and gingerbread lattes, along with light lunch fare such as soup, salad and sandwiches. Outdoor seating is available in warm weather.

With its relaxed, low-key atmosphere, customers can enjoy their cafe con leche or caramel macchiato on comfy couches near the fireplace.
FLYING MOOSE COFFEE HOUSE
2378 Locust Street, Canal Fulton (across from Sluggers and Putters)
Warmth and homemade treats abound in this family-owned coffeehouse that features a full menu of soups, sandwiches, salads, and vegetarian fare, along with specialty and gourmet gift baskets, pumpkin rolls, cookies and cakes. A second location is slated to open soon inside Massillon’s Affinity Hospital.
MO JOES COFFEE HOUSE & CAFE
4469 Hills & Dales Rd.NW, Jackson Township
An upscale, casual coffeehouse, Mo Joes features a menu of gourmet soups, salads and sandwiches with its popular white chocolate mochas, Dirty Chaitinis (chai tea with a shot of espresso) and caramel macchiatos.
137 Walnut Ave. NE, Canton
Specialty coffee roaster, blender and espresso bar with specialty teas. The downtown coffeehouse has won numerous awards for its coffees, including the Golden Cup Award from the Specialty Coffee Association of America. A big draw is open mike night Tuesdays at 7:30 p.m.
PANERA BREAD AND CAFE
Four Stark County locations known for its comfy chairs and tempting sweet treats, Panera touts itself as a “bakery-cafe” because of its fresh-made menu of breads that go with its homemade soups and sandwiches.
STARBUCKS COFFEE CO.
Several Stark County Locations It’s the granddaddy of coffee houses, with locations nationwide. For the chilly weather, try its Starbucks Signature Hot Chocolate. It’s European-style hot chocolate, topped with whipped cream and a dusting of cocoa powder.
