Just as fashion enthusiasts get excited for the new clothing lines, for car lovers, the redesign of their favorite ride is a highly anticipated event.

Luxury-car lovers are in a frenzy this season as they take in the new designs for 2009. Of course, redesign or nor, you can’t turn your nose up at the old standards when it comes to luxury cars.

Bob Malloy, sales manager for Mercedes at Kempthorne Motors in Canton, said that most luxury-car owners really are not concerned with fuel economy. For them, it’s all about luxury features and horsepower.

“We have a whole range of clientele,” said Malloy, in speaking of his range of Mercedes vehicles listed from $34,000 to $200,000.

What do you get for $200,000?

“A lot of horsepower,” he said.

The particular model he mentioned has 607 hp, making it faster than most sports cars. His $34,000 customers are more interested in all-wheel drive, especially in light of recent Ohio winters.

Do women and men shop differently for luxury vehicles?

“Absolutely not,” said Malloy. “Women are just as interested in technical issues as men.”
