OTHER CANTON MARATHON DETAILS …
The purpose of the Canton Marathon is to provide resources to help foster and promote the importance of health and wellness for all citizens in Stark County and to educate youth of Stark County concerning the correlation and long-term effects of obesity and juvenile diabetes by providing children’s programming to organizations and civic organizations associated with Stark County youth.
Canton Marathon has identified a select group of official charity partners for the inaugural event. These charities will receive a percentage of every registration fee that designates them as the participant’s choice. When registering for a Canton Marathon event, participants will be directed to the opportunity to choose your cause. Participants do not have to do anything other than select a charity to benefit from the registration fee (at no additional cost).
Organizations like churches, clubs, civic groups and more can help by signing up to operate water and aid stations, provide entertainment on the course and build cheering sections. For more information, contact Stephen Mears at email@example.com.
In addition to the Official Charity Partner Program, Canton Marathon, Inc. is an IRS-recognized, tax exempt 501(c)(3) public charity. Contributions to Canton Marathon, Inc. are tax deductible. Established nonprofit organizations that provide programming specific to the health and wellness of youth may apply for grants from the official Canton Marathon philanthropy fund. The fund will be administered by the Stark Community Foundation and funds will be awarded beginning in 2013.
