Getting dinner on my family’s table each night is no easy feat. Like most moms, I want to make one dinner that is quick, healthy — and will satisfy everyone at the table. It always sounds so easy. Unfortunately, the reality is much different.
You could feel the nervousness as soon as you entered the room. It was photo-shoot day for our fourth annual Most Eligible singles issue — and the first year we’ve attempted to get all of the singles together at the same photo shoot.
There’s something about the turn of the calendar year that makes us inherently want to start anew. It’s like someone hits the reset button on Jan. 1 and we get a chance to make a fresh start — with a renewed hope and spirit.
If people had mission statements, I think I’ve found mine: Work hard and be nice to people. It’s as easy and as difficult as that, right? No matter what kind of work you do — whether in your personal life or at a workplace — I don’t think you can go wrong by working hard and being nice to others.
My musical ability ended with my screeching attempt at the clarinet back in middle school. Actually, I’m pretty sure it ended long before that, but it took me until my eighth grade year to convince my parents that it just wasn’t going to work out for me.
It all sounds pretty glamorous. From interviewing the “who’s who” of Stark County to conducting photo shoots and deciding what gets in the magazine — there’s certainly something alluring about putting together a monthly glossy publication focused on the best things of Stark County.
