The Unique Club has been around since 1929 but was formally incorporated in 1957. Club members are professional men of Italian descent. They meet monthly at local restaurants, rotating among La Pizzaria, Papa Bears, Skyland Pines and Tozzi’s on 12th. The organization has provided scholarship awards since 1956. It provided six per year until about 25 years ago when the number was increased to 15. They are awarded to anyone of Italian descent graduating from a Stark County high school based on scholastic ability, activities and need. The Unique Club has awarded approximately $500,000 in scholarships since inception, with funds derived from club dues, an annual raffle and several large contributions made in the memory of past members and friends.
