The Massillon Women’s Club sponsored one of it’s major projects, the Rose Luncheon, on June 3rd and 4th at the historically significant Five Oaks Mansion. The luncheon featured a program by Janet Weir Creighton about her private collection of presidential china. Also included at the Rose Luncheon was a display of members’ wedding gowns with photos plus a raffle for a handmade quilt.
A special highlight of the luncheon was a wedding dress on display belonging to the daughter of the original owner of Five Oaks Mansion, Flora Russell McClymonds. She was married to Arvine Wales October 22, 1900. The wedding was attended by President William McKinley.
