The Canton chapter of the Daughters of Penelope, a philanthropic Greek-American women’s organization, hosted the 47th annual Debutante Ball at St. Haralambos Cultural Center.

The Canton chapter of the Daughters of Penelope, a philanthropic Greek-American women’s organization, hosted the 47th annual Debutante Ball at St. Haralambos Cultural Center. Nine graduating senior girls of Greek descent were presented at the ball before an audience of 250. Mary Griveas and Maria Bourlas co-chaired the ball, the chapter’s major fundraising event of the year with proceeds supporting college scholarships. The honorary chairman was Linda Natale, president of the Daughters of Penelope. Following the formal presentation, the debs danced with their fathers and their escorts and then took turns leading a traditional Greek “kalamatiano” circle dance before dancing opened to all. Another highlight of the evening was the awarding of scholarships to debutantes Anna Milica Grunder and Kaitlin Angelina Kaye.
