More Stark Superheroes

This Memorial Day weekend will mark the third annual event, a salute to the heroes who have touched the lives of our community.

Readers of our Stark Superheroes issue (Feb. 2014) know that we at About love to celebrate incredible local heroes of all kinds. So imagine our delight in discovering Field of Honor / Field of Heroes!

This Memorial Day weekend will mark the third annual event, a salute to the heroes who have touched the lives of our community.

Presented by the Jackson Township Rotary Foundation, the event, which runs May 23-26 commemorates community heroes— veterans, members of the armed forces, teachers, coaches, mentors, medical professionals, first responders and more—who have made an impact on our lives.

Volunteers from the area gather to post hundreds of U.S. flags for Jackson Township’s Field of Honor / Field of Heroes display. W.R. “Tim” Timken, former U.S. Ambassador to Germany and retired chairman of The Timken Co., and his wife Sue are serving as honorary chairpersons.

In addition, the organization presented two checks earlier this year for $30,000 each to the Stark County Library Jackson Township branch and the Paul and Carol David YMCA to help build teen centers.

Funds for these projects were raised by the Rotary through their Vintage Jackson and 2013 Field of Heroes events.
