Letter from the Editor: February 2019

The past few years, we’ve featured singles in our February issue, but this year, it’s all about the couples. Why shouldn’t they get some recognition? I mean, it is the month of love after all.

Enjoy your partner’s company

The past few years, we’ve featured singles in our February issue, but this year, it’s all about the couples. Why shouldn’t they get some recognition? I mean, it is the month of love after all.

This month’s cover story features Stark County’s Cool Couples, including our cover stars, Frank and Rachel Forchione, who met through work in the court system. From Aaron and Keitha Brown, who share a love of theater; to Kacy and Becky Carter, who are both school principals; to our final couple, Don Dixon and Marti Jones Dixon, who both have a passion for music, all of these couples are unique and are doing cool things in the community.

Part of a couple yourself and looking to celebrate Valentine’s Day in a new way this year? Instead of going to dinner or “surprising” her with flowers for the 10th year in a row, why not think outside the box? Try doing something that’s new to both of you. Maybe that means hitting the gym together, bundling up and going for a winter hike, painting pottery or enjoying a couples massage. Whatever you do, make sure to enjoy each other’s company.

Not coupled up? Don’t worry. Valentine’s Day can be a day to show yourself some love. There’s nothing wrong with taking yourself to a movie or signing up for that yoga class you’ve wanted to try. Sometimes treating yourself is even better than treating someone else. Who doesn’t love having the remote all to themselves and not having to share the ice cream?

Enough about love and Valentine’s Day. This issue also has a 32-page mini magazine inside it focused completely on building and remodeling resources. Need a plumber? Looking for an electrician? Hoping to find some help with a remodel? The Building Industry Association guide and directory has everything you need and more for all of your home needs and questions.

Until next month,
Kelsey Davis, editor
