Letter from the Editor: September 2014

Favorites! We all have them. We tell our friends about them. We rant and rave about them. But what makes something your “favorite?”

Favorites! We all have them. We tell our friends about them. We rant and rave about them. But what makes something your “favorite?” Maybe it’s the way it makes you feel or the way it makes you look. Maybe it’s the way it tastes or the way it smells. Maybe it’s the quality or maybe it’s the quantity. One thing is certain: People love talking about their favorites.

I could go on and on about my favorites. My favorite drink: French vanilla coffee with cream and sweetener. My favorite season: fall. My favorite color: royal blue (at the moment). My favorite holiday: my birthday (okay, okay, I know that’s not a holiday).

See what I mean? I won’t bore you too much with my favorites.

There are plenty of your Local Faves in this issue. We asked and asked and asked again, and readers sent in tons of responses. From our online poll to social media to snail mail, you made sure your favorites were known. I must say, the votes were super close on a few categories.

Along with Local Faves, we have a feature on another favorite of mine, fresh flowers. Flowers often seem to be forgotten once summer comes to a close. There’s no reason to forget them, especially since we have such creative florists in the area. This month’s Splurge showcases floral arrangements from Twigs & Twine and Anderson’s Flowers, as well as mums from Rice’s Nursery.

More of a fan of fashion than flowers? Check out our fall fashion feature on page 38. Wondering what’s popular for fall? Slouchy, comfy styles are all the rage. Now we’re talking! I’m ready for cool temps and comfy tops.

Now it’s time to do my absolute favorite thing: curl up with a good magazine. I hope you do the same!

Enjoy this month’s issue!
