Letter from the Editor: Let’s hope these Movers & Shakers are contagious | November 2009

There are some things that are good to be contagious. While at the photo shoots with each of the 10 people selected as Stark County’s “Movers & Shakers,” I noticed one such thing that was easy to spot in each.

Yes, each has a long list of accomplishments and an impressive résumé. But it’s their enthusiasm that is contagious.

Most of those featured have reputations that precede them, but talking to them for only a couple of minutes made it clear to me why our advisory board chose them to be featured.

They are excited about Stark County and eager to make a difference here. We’re lucky to have them.

Want to know who they are? I won’t make you wait until you get to the package. About magazine’s 2009 Movers & Shakers are (in alphabetical order): Steve Coon, Janet Weir Creighton, Richard Jusseaume, Geoff Karcher, Judith Lancaster, Stephen Perry, Allen Schulman, Jane Timken, Tim Timken and Dr. Teresa Wurst.

Find out more about each of the Movers & Shakers in this issue, albeit just a glimpse of their busy lives. What I find most telling about them are their comments about Stark County or about why they chose to get involved in the community.

Many speak of a passion for Stark County. Others tell of a responsibility to get involved.

One of my favorite quotes is from Tim Timken: “At the end of the day, everyone wins when people get engaged to make a difference.”

Indeed. Let’s hope it’s contagious.
