The Old St. Louis County Courthouse is reflected in the windows of the UMB Bank Building, as seen from the 27th floor of the Crown Plaza hotel in St. Louis. Hundreds of reflective windows in the bank building refracted light in different ways to form the mosaic of the historic structure. The courthouse was the tallest building in the city when completed in 1864, and its dome was modeled after St. Peter’s Basilica in Vatican City. It features a copper dome and is now part of the Jefferson National Expansion Memorial.
