Say “Fourth of July” and most people think of fireworks. A great way to kick off celebrating the holiday is the Canton Symphony Orchestra’s Concert In the Park (held at the McKinley monument) where you can pack a picnic and kick back on the lawn. Fireworks are more difficult to photograph when you have to add context to the photo. To tie the concert and the aerial display together, I lay down on the pavement below Susan Ramsdell as she played with the orchestra during last year’s concert. Having no room for a tripod, I hand held the Canon EOS-1D Mark IIN with a 28-70mm lens at 28mm and set the exposure at 1/10 sec. f2.8 ISO 400.
