splurge_sassyfrass0352Sassyfrass is the name of Canton-based jewelry designer Jess Kinsinger’s company.

“Think vintage Hollywood meets Cyndi Lauper” is how she describes her one-of-a-kind pieces, which utilize vintage costume-jewelry elements and found objects. splurge_sassyfrass0331

Her passion is “creating shiny new things from tired old things.” Kinsinger’s creations—earrings, necklaces and bracelets, along with handbags and paper products—are sold locally at Cyrus Custom Framing & Art Gallery at 2645 Cleveland Ave. NW in Canton.

This bracelet ($52) has a hand-done patina, and combines rhinestones and a sealed-rust metal band. These Miss Matched earrings ($62) incorporate a number of found components, including a heart-shaped locket and fresh-water pearls.

“This is my version of a mother’s necklace,” Kinsinger said about this $58 piece, which includes found objects, hand-dyed silk, birthstones and initials.

“We have a good range of things here. People come in, have fun, feel good,” said Alan Rodriguez, who opened Jülz in downtown Canton in 2007.

While the shop, which has exposed brick walls and atmospheric lighting, carries designer silver pieces, freshwater pearls and gemstones, it also has diamonds, gold jewelry and stocks gift and jewelry items starting at $35. There is an on-premise jeweler, for everything from simple repairs to elaborate restoration to custom designs.

These sterling-silver teardrop dangle earrings ($75) have a filigree design and shepherd hook. This sterling-silver multiband ring ($75) is accented with a gold vermeil swirl.
