One of my favorite journalists is Tony Kornheiser, a common figure on ESPN and Monday Night Football and a columnist for The Washington Post.
Tony’s quick wit and self-deprecating humor have always appealed to me, but what I find most entertaining and familiar about him is his inner voice, which frequently appears in his writing.
My inner voice has never broken the surface until this moment. Washington has been the commonality between Mr. Tony and me and forms the backdrop against which my move to, and subsequent interest in, Canton can be viewed.
As with many large urban centers, Washington is a thriving, convulsing, gyrating melting pot, where people are thrown together to create interesting social, cultural and economic experiences.
It’s really all about the food. In many visits to Canton before our move here, my wife and I realized, to our surprise, that Canton appeared to be brewing the same concoction, in somewhat smaller portions.
See! Brewing, concoctions, portions! As a real-estate developer, these ingredients are very exciting and, in fact, critical to advancing development efforts.
Add some historical context, architectural inventory and public infrastructure, and you’ve got a recipe ripe for development.
The restaurants. Don’t forget the restaurants. It’s the reason that my partners and I and many other developers around the country have chosen to take on projects in slow, simmering cities that offer the promise of inspiring experiences, spaces and communities.
Canton’s appetite for the aforementioned promises to continues to grow, and I believe that the Hercules project will be one of many items on a menu of enticing options the city will soon offer.
